# Cancel a reservation

`POST` `/reservations/{confirmationNumber}/cancel`

Operation ID: `cancelReservation`

**Write.** Cancels a confirmed reservation and charges any fee due under its cancellation policy. Send `expected_fee` (from the cancellation quote you showed the guest); if the fee has since risen, the request fails with `409 cancellation-fee-changed` instead of charging more.

- `confirmationNumber` (string, required)

## Header parameters

- `Idempotency-Key` (string, optional) - Optional. Makes the request safe to retry for 24 hours.

## Responses

- `200` - Cancelled reservation. See `cancellation` for the cancellation number and fee.
- `403` - The API is in read-only mode.
- `404` - Not found, or owned by another partner.
- `409` - Inventory or state conflict.
